Chevra Kadisha Tallit Project

Ptil Tekhelet and the Chevra Kadisha of Boca Raton Florida are working together to provide an important service. Many in Florida who are looking to be buried according to Jewish Law do not have their own Prayer Shawl, a tallit that they have worn throughout their lives, to be interred with them. We are asking you to take this opportunity to donate your old tallit, and purchase a new one - tied with authentic Tekhelet from Eretz Yisrael.
The mitzvah of wearing Tekhelet on a tallit was not observed by Jews for over a thousand years, and it is only recently that the source of the Tekhelet (a marine snail) and the process for dying was rediscovered.
Tying Tekhelet on the tzitzit is more complicated than all-white mainly due to the fact that for such a long time halakha (Jewish Law) did not coalesce into a definite minhag (custom). So there are a number of opinions on the subject. If you want to learn more, you can click here.
But things can be simple! If you have no particular preference, the majority of Tekhelet wearers do this:
Ashkenazi Jews: Choose Raavad strings and the Chinuch Tying method
Sephardic Jews: Choose Rambam strings and the Rambam 13 Tying method
Don't be daunted - the process for ordering will take you through 3 steps. First you will choose your tallit style and size, next you choose your strings, and then the tying method.
